Hello! We are Savatronix, an indie game company working on the game Lost Haven. Lost Haven is a farming, fighting, and town management anime-styled action RPG targeted primarily for the PC.

We would like to bring on a positive, self-motivated, dependable person to join our team. We are looking for an experienced environment artist interested in filling that role within our current team on a contract basis.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for creating 3d modeled terrain based on rough concept art (with a fair amount of artistic license), texturing the terrain, and decorating the terrain with debris and trees (using SpeedTree). The candidate will also be responsible for advising the team on purchasing any third party assets that may be needed (nothing that uses per seat licenses). We’re not planning to use Unity’s built in terrain system due to it being outdated and not supportive of overhangs and other convex shapes.

The scope of the work will be centered around a portion of the overall envisioned game area as we are producing a playable alpha now. This will be an area approximately 400x400 m area. LOD for surrounding areas will also be needed. The concept for the full game is shown below. The specific area for the playable alpha is in the lower middle, just above the road running from east to west. There is more concept art available upon request.

The area will need to be semi-flat to support town building. We’re also trying to limit annoying “invisible walls on clearly passable terrain” and so natural barriers such as cliffs and dense forests will need to be used. There’s also a feature of “clearing plots” to open land for buildings to be placed, so the design will need to take that into account. Areas (better known as “Plots”) will need to have a “before” and “after” design.

While this scope is more short term, we are looking to forge a longer term working relationship once we’re ready for the next stage of development.
